MP. Georgia Meloni: Free Africa from Exploitation.
2025
In a 2019 televised interview, Giorgia Meloni, then an Italian Member of Parliament and leader of the Brothers of Italy party, delivered a pointed critique of France's economic practices in Africa, particularly concerning Burkina Faso. Holding up a CFA franc banknote, she described it as a "colonial currency" that France prints for 14 African countries, asserting that it enables France to exploit these nations' resources. She emphasized this point by displaying a photo of a child laboring in a gold mine in Burkina Faso, claiming that "50% of everything that Burkina Faso exports ends up in the French treasury." Meloni concluded by stating, "The solution is not to take Africans and bring them to Europe. The solution is to free Africa from certain Europeans who exploit it." Since becoming Prime Minister, Meloni has continued to advocate for a redefined relationship between Europe and Africa. She introduced the "Mattei Plan," a €5.5 billion initiative aimed at fostering strategic partnerships with African nations through investments in infrastructure, education, and energy. This plan seeks to address the root causes of migration by promoting economic development and self-sufficiency in African countries, moving away from traditional aid models. #GiorgiaMeloni #AfricaSovereignty #StopExploitation #CFAFranc #BurkinaFaso #MatteiPlan #NeoColonialism #FranceInAfrica #EconomicJustice #StrategicPartnerships #InfrastructureInvestment #EducationForAfrica #EnergyDevelopment #MigrationSolutions #SelfSufficiency #EndColonialLegacy #EmpowerAfrica #ItalyAfricaRelations #MutualRespect #DevelopmentNotAid #AfricanResources #FairTrade #GlobalEquity #RedefiningAid #AfricanUnity #EconomicFreedom #InvestInAfrica #SustainableGrowth #DecolonizeAfrica #AfricaRising
